DOUGLAS GORDON etc artist in residence 2014
The Scottish artist Douglas Gordon (b. 1966) often bases his work on a disruption of perception; by making his audience aware of their own fugitive subjectivity, he questions how we give meaning to our experience of things. Into a diverse body of work – which spans narrative video, film, sound, photographic objects, and texts in site-specific installations as well as the printed media – he infuses a combination of humour and trepidation to recalibrate reactions to the familiar.
In 2014 Douglas Gordon was asked by etc to (re-)discover the visual medium and creative process of lithography during an artist-in-residency in Zurich.
The unique installation JUST ME and the accompanying portfolios JUST ME I and II are the impressive result of his artist residency.
